Most of their deaths were from accidental spread of diseases they were not immunized against, and while we do need to slip in a "sorry" about that, it was almost (key word here is almost) never intentional.

You're mostly right, but after most of them were dead, we forced them off their homelands, and onto camps, where, to this day, they live in terrible conditions.

Actually the majority of Native Americans today do NOT live on reservations. Moreover it is false to call these "camps" after 1924. Native Americans are full American citizens, with full rights of movement. They are not required to live on reservations, they have full freedom of movement throughout the US, and are completely free to leave anytime they so choose.

The conditions on many reservations are horrible, but the problems they have are for the most part not unique to the reservations, but are common throughout similarly situated rural areas. However this is more a failure of rural policy in general, rather than Native American policy in general, though admittedly the confused legal status of the reservations is problematic they also get some additional resources (such as the Indian Health Service) other rural areas do not get.

The problems they face today are not primarily caused by current racism however.

Obviously the forced relocations were horrible, but it is no longer the 1800s.

This does not change the fact we still need to drastically reform rural policy in general, and reservation policy in particular.

Certainly the conditions on many reservations are very bad, and need to be resolved (though only 22% actually live on reservations).
But again most problems there are not exclusive to the reservations, but a failure of rural policy in general. Low life expectancy, high drug abuse, high domestic abuse, poor health are problems for many rural people regardless of ethnicity.

And unfortunately rural suffering is a largely untold story in America today.
