I've seen arguments on other forums that the left are hypocrites for thinking Trump is a tyrant yet supporting de-arming citizens. However there is no incongruity with these positions. American gun owners are mostly extreme right wing and would use their weapons to oppress their fellow citizens if there ever was a true constitutional crisis/civil war in America. Wanting to disarm these people is the only logical approach

Good point. The only measure of tyranny by gun advocates seems to be supporting gun control. You can do anything else (change voting rights, imprison huge sections of the population, be rampantly corrupt) but if you oppose gun control, you're a freedom fighter. Civil rights has largely been introduced by the federal government they seem to hate.

Black markets make it more difficult to purchase a firearm than strolling into your local Super Walmart, you understand.

Still, though, several sections of the United States are just ingrained with gun culture. There's no way to remove the arms without causing the world's largest underground gun ring.
