Eliminating or reducing Bullying and Harassment are all very credible goals, but they need to get their own house in order before pontificating to other people...the vast majority of which already know Bullying and Harassment are bad without being patronised by a Shaving Ad.

This is just a case of yet another business with questionable morals pretending to be woke, and convincing the gullible to applaud it.

Which would be a completely fair and appropriate reason, if any of the people throwing a hissyfit right now had ever complained about those problems before.

Gillette is a garbage company, that won't get my money, no matter how many feelgood commercials they pump out, but let's not pretend the current outrage even remotely has anything to do with that.

There is something immensely hypocritical about any business attempting to wokewash their image while maintaining standard dubious chains of supply and concentration of ownership. Methods such as these are a form of ideological ruse by capital in an era of increasing social inequality to mask the underlying material reality that their profits are based on exploitation.

Analytically speaking, it requires specific criticism because such behaviour by business is increasingly common and unless we identify and name the thing we can neither understand it nor respond properly to it.

If it legitimizes the devil in the eyes of the public, it likely is not better. And i'll admit i haven't seen the ad in question, but i do not believe what they support is necessarily positive.
But that's just my opinion.

However, looking around social media, I see very little (if any) of that kind of reasoning going around, and a whole lot of "Damn SJWs, muh manhood" crying.

Yeah, feels pretty inappropriate. Both women and men pin sexist gender roles on women and men, and to pretend that either women, or men, have no culpability for any of the pinned gender roles on each other is ludicrous and sexist. In Gilette's case, it's essentializing men as the True Actors (tm) of society, while women have no part in it, which is pretty damn sexist. In my faux reverse case, it's basically just the opposite - that women are responsible for the upbringing of women and the gender roles placed therein, and men have no part in it.
