Absolutely possible.
This overall sentiment pretty accurately describes how I feel about having mild aspergers.

For the longest time, despite my awareness of my strange tendencies, I rejected this diagnosis because of many of the stigmas associated with the term.

However with time I’ve come to accept it. While I unashamedly enjoy many of my personality quirks that set me apart from your average person, and enjoy being an eccentric individual, I still hold resentment for the more negative impact having this has had on my life.

Most notably in relationships. I’m very good at “bluffing” normalcy, I often opt for a rather quiet & reserved personality in social situations until I know someone really well. As a result it’s very difficult for people to get a feel for who I am until we begin to get close. At which point I presumably seem to change personalities to my natural one.

This In turn has lead to every romantic relationship I’ve been in failing after no more than a few months. I inevitably always end up developing feelings rapidly, and my strange personality has led to every romantic partner breaking up with me.
I often find it hard to make close friends with people for the same reasons. I’m a little too “out there” for most people once I’m comfortable around them. Which means I often have to modify my personality in social situations if I don’t want to feel uncomfortable. Now maybe these people aren’t true friends if they can’t accept my natural personality, but I try not to let such negative judgments impact my own relationship with others.
And even with this in mind, I find it hard to truly connect with people simply because my way of thinking & personality is so much different.

Again though, I must stress that my oft unique worldview & way of doing things has kept my life very interesting & I wouldn’t trade my “weirdness” for normalcy if I had the option of doing so.
