From what I know, caviar is the go-to for a thing that's only expensive because people want it to be expensive.

It was ridiculously expensive because sturgeon almost went extinct for its roe.

Thanks to the miracles of fish farming though, the tub in my pantry cost 26€.

I'm a big fan of sushi roe, I wouldn't be surprised if there were people out there who thought caviar was worth it on the regular purely for the taste. Sea urchin is pretty gamey but I can definitely see people paying a premium for that, for instance.

Sushi roe; caviar is just fish eggs. Caviar just happens to have a much creamier mouthfeel.

Sea urchin is mandatory when I'm making bouillabaisse, though I would be very impressed at anybody who keeps a constant supply of them around.

I really like sushi roe aswell, I just also like the slightly different taste that caviar has. I just happen to like the taste of fish eggs in spit of the often inflated price.

I don't think I'd be able to stand a meal that featured urchin as its centrepiece, but I had a very charming mixed bowl of rice with half a dozen types of seafood whilst I was in Japan, and the urchin was a real showstopper in that one.

Half-and-half your mashed potatoes with sweet potatoes for a new depth of flavour, colour, and texture.

I half-and-half it occasionally, but with broccoli instead of sweet potatoes.

Sea urchin, I remember the first time I had sea urchin, i was on a date with mrs mermania before she became mrs mermania and we decided to order it with our sushi dinner
it came in the shell we sucked it out and it was OK, for 5 bucks a shot, hardly worth it. Toro was 2 dollars for 2 pieces.

So se get back to my place, put on the TV, and it's a nature documentary on the califorina sea otter. And there is the little son of a bitch, drifting in the sea, lying on his back, eating a FUCKING SEA URCHIN. 10 dollars for fucking otter food.

Lovely

That's what you get for half assing the date. Think of how impressed she would have been had you dived into the sea yourself, caught the urchins, then cracked it open on your stomach as you casually floated along like it was nothing.
