They have privacy settings you can adjust and based on what they have, you can also see what they’ve labeled as your interests, your age group, and other things.

I think last time I checked Google thought I was a male in my mid to late 20s and my locational data said I resided in California. The only correct part was the male bit. I have my computer swapping its internal identifiers around on a frequent basis so it’s harder to track that as well.

It's still more environmentally sustainable than factory farms and plants don't "know" things in the same way animals do. They aren't sentient, after all.

Factory farms are shitty, yes, however, changing that is up to us as consumers. People just like meat too much to want to increase costs. However, I myself usually go for anything labeled free range and ethically sourced and whatnot. Tastes better and I can afford it, and then feel good for supporting businesses that I like. It’s nice to see healthy eating becoming increasingly “trendy” and thus you start to see more organic food on the shelves. The non-GMO crowd managed to get a multitude of companies to label the GMO content of their products so clearly if there’s a big enough push you can change the market.

It’s cycle of life and unfortunately compassion can only go so far. The best ethical decision is to limit the suffering of the animal when it comes to meat or just accept that plants are alive but with less feelings than animals. You have to consume living things. If I go out into the African wilderness and some hungry cheetah catches me and rips me apart I’m not gonna be mad at the cheetah for outrunning me, outfighting me, and then eating me. That’s just nature. It is gonna suck but then you stop feeling pain and suddenly it stops sucking.
