I’m not saying I’d get COPD immediately after but it puts me at a higher risk. That coupled with my family medical history makes it too much risk for a small reward.
No thanks.

That is insane to me. Long term smoking would put you at a higher risk, one pack just won't do it in the same way you're not going to develop skin cancer from having once been exposed to sunlight. That's an absurdly tiny additional assumption of risk. Do you refuse X-Rays? Do you refuse to get in cars?

It's actually a pretty small risk for a pretty major reward. If you get COPD from smoking one pack of cigarettes it's not a predisposition it's a voodoo cure.

Not to mention, it’s hard to quit when you start. So even if you don’t get COPD after just one month, if you can’t quit, then you will get COPD.

It's hard to quit because you develop a physical dependence on nicotine and because using cigarettes is tied to all sorts of behaviors you do. If you're smoking one a day it would be ridiculous for that to happen.

Unfiltered Kools are only for tobacco addicts; they are nasty.
But I promised that our son would never see me smoke, so on the day he was born I quit. 1974
It can be done
