I think you missed the non-atheists who, being pro-choicers are -- much to our own surprise -- secretly in league with the Devil and betraying God, and the classic emotionalist arguments "your mother didn't abort you", "the child wants to live!" (when -- in truth, it's an insensate foetus and doesn't want anything) and that old favourite "you could abort the next Marie Curie or Gandhi" (rather than the next Hitler or Dahmer, who never seems to feature in the argument).

Otherwise, you got pretty much got everything, I think.

Always forget those. Although it might just be exhaustion from hearing about the next "Savior of Humanity" that just died.

And I'm telling you that we are rejecting Christianity and the control of the Church because of the centuries of abuse they subjected us to. Not just all the sexual abuses by priests and the resulting cover-ups, but also the treatment of the children they stole from us, children who were treated as outcasts in their own communities because the Church taught us that they were bastards born of sin, children they sold abroad because illegal adoptions are "better" than letting a single mother raise her own child, children they cared so little for that one mother and baby home has been found to have the remains of hundreds of babies and children, not respectfully given Christian burials but disposed of unceremoniously in a disused fucking septic tank.

It should surprise no one that the people of Ireland are no longer interested in moral teachings the religious organisations that did that to us and to our children.

The morality of the Church is dependent on God, not her sinful human members. Members of the Church have obviously treated others badly, but that is obviously not a reason to commit mass infanticide.

Where are the celebrating those things, please provide evidence for that. Since your god is remarkably silent on pretty much everything, the only thing we have to go on is the actions of the people who claim to speak in his name.

The thing is, while you keep moralizing about how this is bad, people are not going to stop having sex. Teens are probably going to keep having unprotected sex. This is not going to change anytime soon. Abortion being banned will only ban safe abortion. That is it. Back to the clotheshanger and dangerous herbal mixture days. Christianity has lost this battle. Pro-lifers have lost this battle. The best you can do is try to stop people from having sex. Ranting about "responsibility" is useless, as all it does is make you look more extreme and closed minded.

My definition of self-respect does not include the fundamental disrespect of women. If I want kids, I’d very happily discuss it with my partner first rather than try to lay claim upon her body due to some self-righteous moral indignation.
