I don't think you can really rule him out yet. He did pretty well against Clinton in 2016, and having a high-profile socialistic candidate like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez running in 2018 didn't sink the Democrats. Of course, he'd be running nationwide, but polling suggests he has a chance to win.

To have sane conversations between politicians in America, we need them to stop straw manning and learn what things mean. Too often, gum policy is broken down as " they say 'common sense' but don't believe them, they're just tyrants who want to take away your guns so you can't resist[with a puny assault weapon]their fascist commie takeover." From the conservatives , and " oh my god everyone is gonna die!" From the liberals. Further, people say things like "there is now definition of assault weapon" on top of that, conservatives don't seem to understand that the gender wage gap, and that it is unequal pay for equal work, not the average among all women.

Also, people need to stop thinking a. That socialism destroys countries and b. That Bernie and AOC advocate socialism.
Finally, the green new deal is nothing new, it's just taking a bunch of widely accepted policies and packaging them together.

Honestly I think he might actually be one of the weaker potential candidates nowadays cuz he doesn't have that minority draw that Dem candidates need to run their numbers up and relying on poaching Trump voters in the Rust Belt, while possible, is a really sketchy game plan.

There are several indicators (that are valuable) that indicate Trump's re-election won't be all that much easier. His approvals in every state are down and he only won in the first place due to a couple thousand votes across three states.
