By a majority of less than 10,000, far lower than is normal for the area. Consider that turnout in presidential years is higher still, and he could very well be gone after next year.

Gary Johnson grabbed 10% of the vote in my home state, and 3% nationally, despite being blocked out of debates, jumping over extra hurdles to get on ballots, having far less resources to work with, and being "unviable." We're clearly onto something, even if the progress is slow.

Why does this matter? Prior to the Civil War, parties rose and reformed all the time. 3rd parties affect the race all the time. Think of Ross Perot. Winning isn't as important as voting with your conscience, Lumen.

They never put up people that are viable. The libertarian that ran for Governor of New York last year wanted to cut all state funding for public transit and have the municipalities or counties run it. The MTA would go bankrupt with such a proposal as no one but the rich would be able to afford the exorbitant fares

Which is why we need to keep yanking those blindfolds off. The bigger the pool of people who can see how awful this bipartisan government truly is, the more options we have on people who can run for office against the political duopoly.
