Calling a state of national emergency over such a trivial aspect of border security is pathetic and sets a poor example for the future.

It's a pretty huge reach as far as his executive power goes. If he gets away with it, he will have greatly increased the influence of his own position (a la Chancellor Palpatine, if you get Star Wars references), severely weakening the characteristics that allow us to define the USA as a republic.

Well, to be fair, when the steel-mills shut-down to to labor issues, Ike issued a state of emergency to get people to operate the mills for a few days until the courts deemed the act unconstitutional.

Which was more-or-less re-applied in Little Rock, Arkansas to enforce integration of schools using active-serving federal soldiers (101st div).

Back when those were done, there were people that thought such actions were overreactions and completely unnecessary.

President Trump has just declared a national emergency, due to the Democrats in congress shameful intransigence on the legal and illegal immigration issue, if it were not for President Trump the Democrats would have welcomed all of the Honduran Caravan with open arms even if they don't qualify for any kind of asylum, as most don't qualify. So will the Democrats in congress with their majority in the House and minority in the Senate try to impeach President Trump out of office, making those predictions we have been reading about in the Press come true? If they do they will not like President Pence either, and his Vice Presidential Pick, which I hope would be Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz, who would be the first Cuban American Hispanic Vice President and even a Jew ban.

So it looks like we will be getting anti-ram barriers in the community, high-traffic areas and bollard barriers in the less hospitable places?

There are going to be several court cases regarding eminent domain and hos his right to do this, those will probably come with hold orders which will indefinitely delay progress.

I sincerely believe the wall will never actually see the light of day, he's barely reached the first step.
