Trump needs to go ahead and declare his emergency.

The only reason why he hasn't already is that it's political suicide. He only brought up the fact he could (in theory, though legally questionable) declare an emergency as a bluff, which he's currently being called out on.

Congress saying no to an over priced, useless wall is an emergency.

Yes, it is. Not quite sure why you don't like workers or unions, but you should start liking them.

I dont think making it so stores run empty because no one is transporting stuff is a good thing.

Tis but an unfortunate byproduct of workers asserting their rights. Besides, their demands would probably include something like "make sure this never happens again"

Yes but it should not mean you crash the entire economy

It seems farmers are finally feeling the heat from Trump's reckless trade war and shutdown. Maybe they will reconsider their support of him and vote against him in 2020. Im not going to hold my breathe though but it would be nice to see. If they dont reconsider their votes I wont feel sorry for them when they lose their farms

And here I am, sitting here with my popcorn and enjoying the fireworks. The majority of the government is funded anyways and the workers not being paid will get back pay so still trying to see why the apocalypse is upon us?

That's the point of a strike. If consumers didn't feel anything, then strikes wouldn't be very good tools.

Perhaps you haven't heard about the damage to national parks because people are horrible and staff shortages at airports creating long lines?

How is striking helping each other out? I doubt many people would approve of their actions when stores run out of supplies because they got no shipments.

It would show that Trump's decision to throw a tantrum like a child has far reaching impacts.

His decision made the US worse and it's time to show him just how worse.

To be somewhat fair, crashing the economy to pretty much “own Trump” is a lot like the ruin things to “own the libs” on the other side of the coin, both will leave you in a worse situation compared to where you started.

Because people can have major issues if they aren't being paid for a month? I don't know about you, but I live pretty close to paycheck to paycheck. I have an emergency reserve, but I don't think I could pay all of my bills on it for more than a month or two unless I wanted to start spending money I am saving for retirement. I also make more than a number of government employees effected by the shut down, nor do I necessarily have the same number of expenses (as I have no children). Many people who are loosing money are probably going to have to borrow money to make ends meat, which means they will have to pay off interest on what they barrow, and the government pay will not be increased to cover that interest.

This also doesn't cover the fact that many things the government does have been closed down, such as the FDA not screening new drugs, and shutting down most of their food inspections. So if we were to have an outbreak of salmonella, they would not be able to respond well. The SEC has stopped most of their work, so I guess white collar criminals have a better time.

Not to mention potential problems with food stamp money running out (if this lasts for another month or so), as well as other government assistance projects not happening, such as relief efforts for tariffs the president has put in place.

Not to mention the shut down actually increases the cost to the government, because people who aren't working get back pay, but there work hasn't been done.
