Because when I learned about this a week ago, I felt so sad for anyone going through that.

Most people be like "Your marriage isn't that important than the other problems going on", well like fuck them no offense. (And I don't regret saying that either)

Yeah I perfectly understand that your wedding and marriage is not the most important thing in the world obviously. But to really be shut a cold heartless asshole who doesn't care about other people especially when it comes to wanting to have the happiest thing to happen to them, then you really should be ashamed of yourself.

I mean like what the actual fuck? :o

So what you're saying is that marriage registrars should still work unpaid cause they should care about other peoples' marraiges?

What he is saying is that they shouldn't be unpaid in the first place.

But they are, thanks to Trump and his temper tantrum over the fact that congress said no to the wall.

Yes, but there are more important things to focus on.

Like what? What could be more important than turning the government back on?

Turning on the government is probably the most important thing to do

We can pay attention to all the issues a shutdown causes. No need to ignore some because they're relatively minor.

You do realize that won't be a year of a general election, right?

Considering there are still people who believe that the only ones effected are the government employees who are nog getting paid, perhaps making a list of everyone elses issues caused by the shutdown is even a grand idea.

I feel like this should be preserved, like an uncontacted tribe...someone who clearly hasn't experienced 69 jokes. It's an anthropological treasure.

So we can watch them twist themselves into pretzels coming up with reasons why each one doesn't also matter because the shutdown is meaningless until Humungus shows up in their front yard yelling, "Just walk away..."

I hope so, we need to do something with this illegal immigration and organized Caravans of illegals, since most don't qualify for any kind of asylum.

Indeed. Like paying the coastgoard and TSA.

IMO it’s an absolute embarrassment for Trump to preside over and be responsible for the longest government shutdown by consecutive days in US history. Outside of his die-hard “Trump can do no wrong” crowd, I see him losing a lot of support over this garbage.

Why are you surprised ? Trump likes everything to be bigly to compensate for tiny things.

I mean, I’m not but I kinda am at the same time. A part of me is surprised that he hasn’t caved into the realization that he isn’t getting his wall yet, either by some small spark in his mind or someone in his circle telling him “this ain’t gonna work, man”.

Honestly? It was kinda genius.

He was going to blame the Democrats for it.

Problem is. Every time he opens his goddamn mouth, 70% of the country realizes that he's insane and he can't be trusted, so.

Honestly it really is weird how nobody in the government or military has had the balls to like launch a coup to overthrow Trump at this point. Even though that would make things worse of course.

Like I said before, I'm very surprised the Republicans haven't gotten sick of him and just installed Mike Pence instead.

The guy is a hardliner golden boy.

Must be because he's somehow more annoying and uncontrollable than Trump is. Granted, he doesn't strike me that way, but why haven't they installed his white-bread ass, then?

It is weirder how the republicans are just taking it in the arse. It after all was THEIR budgetplan as well that Trump shot down.

Really? But what about the banns and shit?

None of their business. There's absolutely no restrictions on a church deciding to "marry" two people, and it has nothing to do with the actual legal institution of marriage. As a random example, a cousin of mine just got "married", because her boyfriend/husband is part of a religious group that isn't a fan of people living together before marriage. They've no intention of doing the actual legal bit any time soon, they've just done the religious bit for now.

would it really go that way?

It could be a 24 hour coup - Military steps in and arrests Trump, the next day the appoint Pence as President, everyone carries on and pretends nothing changed

fracturing might be a good thing at this stage
