I'm not a supporter of the wall - I think it's dumb. I'd rather just heavily penalize the businesses who hire illegal immigrants and pay them below market wages, but that's too common sense an approach for the Government.

Trump's wall wouldn't work too well. Most illegal immigrants come in on planes. But the senate should just have about $2.5 billion dollars for border security, with our soldiers down by the border I think we have it covered.

The US-Mexican border makes up a relatively small part of the total border that needs to be policed, so saying that the Democrats don't think that border security is an issue is completely spurious. It's like saying that someone who doesn't like pepperoni pizza doesn't like pizza at all.

The other borders include the US border with Canada, the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, with the World's largest navy patrolling them, and there's also the Arctic Ocean, but Polar Bears have yet to manifest a major threat.

Congress has commissioned a study on quails having sex while high on cocaine, and another on the effect of leaf blowers on lizards. They don't have time for this border wall stuff! If someone told me that they were going to veto a mostly bipartisan budget over a single, controversial campaign promise, I’d have called them stupid.

But colour me surprised, since it seems to working so far, or at least doing better than I expected. Sure if there had been the usual partisan disagreement and then Trump threw this in, I’d expect everyone to pick sides as usual, but as far as my understanding goes, the major obstacle was that he said he would veto anything including the border wall. Maybe I was being too logical, this is the government we’re talking about.

I honestly have no idea now who’d benefit from a continued standoff, since I highly doubt the average citizen views a shutdown as a good thing, while on the other, I’m starting to believe that it’s possible to overestimate some people’s support or opposition to it, regardless the cost. Maybe if it takes long enough, we’ll unlock the secret ending and the gofundme actually works.

That has several assumptions:

1. Quails are turned on as quickly as humans
2. Cocaine affects quails the same way as it affects humans
3. Humans consuming cocaine will somehow care about sexual motivation, and consume less cocaine as a result
4. That there are greater odds that sexual behavior of quails on cocaine will decrease use of cocaine by humans, than the opposite; otherwise you're just studying quails on cocaine to increase human cocaine consumption, which is even worse than what Rand Paul suggested

It's a dumb study. It's a waste of money. If someone's addicted to cocaine, rough sex isn't going to magically get most of them to quit; however who's to say that for every cocaine addict who quits because of rough sex, someone else didn't try cocaine, and get addicted to it, in order to aid their rough sex?

Of course not. He wanted a showdown with the Democrats, and that partially inspired a shutdown. He is to blame. But when we get members of the other party trying to portray the Democrats as innocent lambs, (rather than the party that took his bait and went right into the shutdown,) just to be slaughtered by evil president, I just can't help but laugh.
