Denmark Passes Law Requiring New Citizens Shake Hands

Even if a god existed, being God does not make the rules any less arbitrary. "Because I said so" is the very definition of arbitrary whether it comes from a person or a god. Laws should have purpose.

To be fair, this particular religious law does have a purpose.

Allah apparently believes his people are incapable of controlling themselves around the opposite sex enough to shake hands.

The ruling of hand shaking isn't in the Holy Qur'an.

I mean, on the one hand, not shaking hands cause of religious reasons seems stupid.
But on the other hand, making hand shaking a legal requirement for anything really sounds equally stupid.

And what does this particular law accomplish? And don't say "it prevents people from sinning" because it's only sinning in the first place because God says it is.

Keeping out a certain type of Islamist and encouraging gender equality is the purpose.
There might be better ways to do it (almost certainly) but just because something could be done better does not mean there is no purpose.

You are missing the point. The point is not to integrate everyone in the whole world. The point is to keep out certain people in the first place. You have no need to integrate people who do not go to Denmark.

If your culture is so savage and backwards that it is acceptable for a man to refuse to extend a handshake to a woman (or refuse to take her hand) because she is a woman, you have no place in Europe or the civilized world. Even nations that engage in alternates like bowing honor handshakes.

This is a method of forcing assimilation and it should be applauded, as well as applied in ever coutnry in Europe.

I think the point of the law is to weed out the people who would be harder to integrate. They don't want to integrate the person who sticks to their dogma, they want to integrate the people who are willing to integrate. Hence this law.
The people who would be willing to accept the norms of Denmark and integrate get in.
The people who refuse don't, even if, down the line, they could integrate, because it'd be a harder, longer and potentially pointless endeavour. It saves them time and money to outright reject these people.

Personally, I don't think it is counterproductive to integration, I think it's a benefit to it. it weeds out those who refuse to do the bare minimum of integration needed to enter, so the time and resources that would've been spent integrating them can be spent on those more willing, and thus easier, to integrate.

I live in Germany and I've met a lot of refugees from Islamic countries. Half the women don't wear any sort of head coverings and more than half of them weren't fasting for Ramadan. There's lots of integration in my parts.

If your version of Hijab includes a full face covering it is already banned in Denmark.
Different Muslims have different hijab.

There are people all over my neighborhood who are Muslim and do not wear headscarves.
