I quite like the idea of the government staying closed forever.

I would have accepted a defence of privatisation of essential government functions in the 1950's, when such an idea was new. Now, however, privatisation has been tried and tested, and outside of a few specific industries it has turned out not to work at all.

Why do people keep pretending like this is a new idea that we only have theory on. The ideas have been put into practice, and quite unsuccessfully in a large number of cases.

If the Democrats cave in to Trump's demands, then they will also lose their credibility as a party.
