Well, at least there's some that are willing to change that god awful law, and make sure Democrats don't abuse it. It won't stop Trump's current National Emergency but, I suspect it'll be struck down in court and I believe the deciding Judge will be Chief Justice Roberts.

I really hate Congress and their shitty backronyms. PATRIOT ACT was a stretch but now we have the ARTICLE ONE Act?

Gimme a break.

Oh, uh, also, good law. 30 days even might be too long and a lot of abuse can happen in that time. Why not 14?

Don't get me wrong, the law should never came to be and I think a full repeal is needed but thank Peter Rodino (D-NJ) for proposing the law, Congress passing it, and for Ford signing it. As much as this is political acrobats, at least this will prevent some abuse.

That's an impressive painting but his comments: Every year hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals march to our southern border and cross into our country. Who are they? What right do they have to come here?

Manafort's sentence has been increased. Currently stands at seven and a half years.

An interesting day for Paul Manafort:

- First he got another 73 months of prison time, of which 47 months are to run consecutive with the previous sentence of 43 months, meaning he'll be in prison for about 7 years.

- Then he gets indicted by a Manhattan Grand Jury on 16 counts, for mortgage fraud, conspiracy, and falsifying business records.

The Best people, you guys!

Remember how the justification for the light four year sentence was that he was basically a good dude...?
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

He's a great guy, believe me guys! Even if Trump pardons him (which is political suicide), he can't go around the State Crimes. Basically, Manafort is in prison one way or the other.

Trump also opposes it (no surprise). Wouldn't the smart thing to do is bring the legislation up to a vote? I would think that would be a better strategy.

The argument coming from the Trumpists is that since these do not pertain to Russian collusion, then Manafort's treatment is obviously a witch hunt and should be let go...

Failing to acknowledge that Manafort actually committed a ton of felonies, and is getting punished exactly for that reason. Strange, coming from the Law&Order crowd.

Pelosi why are you doing this?

Because apparently she prefers siding with Trump over being a fucking adult and voting with her Republican colleagues once in a blue moon.
While she had no regrets about throwing the lever to douse her husband's mistress in molten gold, Blanche did feel a pang of conscience for the innocent bystanders whose proximity had caused them to suffer gilt by association.

I believe the rationale is that it forces Republicans to take action on Trump now instead of saying "look, we voted on the National Emergency legislation and now it's not a big issue anymore!"

I'm not disagreeing, but Pelosi's reasoning is slightly more deep than the usual partisan hackery.

But only slightly.
