GOP Senators Want to change the National Emergency Act

Well, at least there's some that are willing to change that god awful law, and make sure Democrats don't abuse it. It won't stop Trump's current National Emergency but, I suspect it'll be struck down in court and I believe the deciding Judge will be Chief Justice Roberts.

I really hate Congress and their shitty backronyms. PATRIOT ACT was a stretch but now we have the ARTICLE ONE Act?

Gimme a break.

Oh, uh, also, good law. 30 days even might be too long and a lot of abuse can happen in that time. Why not 14?

Don't get me wrong, the law should never came to be and I think a full repeal is needed but thank Peter Rodino (D-NJ) for proposing the law, Congress passing it, and for Ford signing it. As much as this is political acrobats, at least this will prevent some abuse.

I can understand a the law needing to exist in some form, so that the country can respond to natural disasters or actual attacks on our country like 9-11

Failing to acknowledge that Manafort actually committed a ton of felonies, and is getting punished exactly for that reason. Strange, coming from the Law&Order crowd.

I believe the rationale is that it forces Republicans to take action on Trump now instead of saying "look, we voted on the National Emergency legislation and now it's not a big issue anymore!"
