The Federal Government is so stupid it let Ford build trucks for the Soviets during the height of the Cold War and then said trucks ended up in North Vietnam to supply NVA and VC regiments killing our boys. Sounds like a stupid reason to end human civilization tbh. Imagine if Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter and Reagan all threatened to nuke the Soviet’s everytime they deployed a new missile system. We’d be dead a couple dozen times over.

I see, I wasn’t aware of that, though we had cooler heads prevail back then who didn’t literally threaten to nuke the other side if they came out with a new set of nukes like a madman.

Pretty much anything that disturbs MAD means one side has to consider striking because it becomes a valid threat that someone can get a nuclear advantage. Back in the Bush II days the Russians were really fucking nervous about us building ABM defenses in Romania, Czechia and Poland for this reason. The new Russian systems are basically meant to get inside the command loop and/or avoid existing defenses.

So once again the GOP bends over to please Russia. Show of hands, who's surprised?

Just ignore back in September we literally had the Trump Administration threatening preemptive nuclear strikes if the Russians deployed their new missile system.

So why is lifting these sanctions so absolutely vital?
