If it’s the that simple and winnable why not place utterly exorbitant tariffs on all Chinese goods and cripple China?

We (and by we I mean Uncle Sam) don’t want to crash them. We want to push them up to the cliff and threaten to throw them off if they don’t do what we want.
It’s uncle sam’s historically normal “we make a deal or I can shoot you” technique. It’s patent pending.

You forget that the Chinese population will go back to living in huts and eating pig whisker soup long before the American population will accept a delay in the new iPhone. I'm not sure Trump knows this.

Fair, but I don't think Uncle Sam will really shove them over the cliff. The best maneuver is to keep them teetering on the edge until they blink.

Why would they blink? The elite in charge will maintain their standard of living whatever happens and the plebs have no choice. The US population will blink first since they have a meaningful vote

Sure, the elites won't starve, but they'll lose all the power outside of China that they have grown accustomed to.

We'll see. The Chinese really believe that they're special in the world, even more so that Americans do.

We dont get much in imports from those countries. Mexico and Canada should be retaliating with massive tariffs on our goods.
China will keep raising tariffs and eventually you crash the economy. They wont be hurt by it but we will

Actually we export less to China than we import from them. We can slap a shit ton of tariffs on Chinese imports and they cannot match us

Possibly more so than the US.
Question is, will that change anything?
I'm guessing no. Purely because if American citizens get hurt hard enough, they'll vote for a different president.
China doesn't have that luxury, and it's not like the populace is suddenly going to be so fed up that they'll revolt and overthrow Xi Jinping anytime soon, so its leadership can keep this going a lot longer.
You clearly know nothing about China. You cannot win a trade war with China

You are the one who knows nothing about China dude. Don’t go projecting your lack of knowledge on everyone else.
The Chinese economy relies on exports. We export les to China than we import from them. Therefore we can put tariffs on nearly all Chinese imports which is roughly $200 billion while China can only put tariffs on $50 billion American exports.
You can seriously tank the Chinese economy if you also bring the EU, Canada, Mexico, and others into the fold. Which is what Trump should have done, created a trade agreement that requires all members to put tariffs on all Chinese imports.
When over half of China’s imports are being tariffed out the ass their economy will plummet. At that point we should start funding any group that is anti-CPC or separatist.

Thankfully Trump has done a great job building relations with those economies.. the future is Eurasia.

I hope not.
China literally runs concentration camps for muslims and other "undesirables" and forcibly harvest organs from them to give to their own people. If that's the future, the world is so fucked.
It's like somebody looked at the Holocaust and said "you know, we can make this more efficient".

Well yes, hence Trump should be a bit more cognisant of the fact that America does need to be aligned with global allies rather than pulling out of every treaty and insulting other countries all the time.
