This would be funny if it wasn't so depressing.

It's wonderful, isn't it?

The administration then needs to own it, and just say they hate all refugees for being foreigners. Don't try to hide it anymore, just own it. We all know it, and this policy only makes sense if the administration just flatout hates foreigners, so just accept that. Than we can have the true conversation, instead of hiding it in euphemisms and letting everyone do the puppetry, trying to fool your own morality.

Why should they? It's so much more fun to continue as is.

Split second decisions are needed, and the complexity creates danger. All of this for great cost yet very little gain. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want Albert Einstein to be my pilot. I want great flying professionals that are allowed to easily and quickly take control of a plane!

Really? Because I'm not seeing that beyond the fevered imaginations of those like yourself. Use to, the Right could only point to Hungary or Poland by now places like France or Germany can be added to that list. China and Russia were already well known, for others.

Whilst he did state in normal Trump like fashion he's actually not making a bad point tbqh
Conserative Morality wrote:"It's not time yet" is a tactic used by reactionaries in every era. "It's not time for democracy, it's not time for capitalism, it's not time for emancipation." Of course it's not time. It's never time, not on its own. You make it time. If you're under fire in the no-man's land of WW1, you start digging a foxhole even if the ideal time would be when you *aren't* being bombarded, because once you wait for it to be 'time', other situations will need your attention, assuming you survive that long. If the fields aren't furrowed, plow them. If the iron is not hot, make it so. If society is not ready, change it.

Going from what Bombadil said, we could, theoretically, actually just give Trump the funding for his wall late in 2019 knowing that it couldn't be built by the time Trump's out of office, but that presumes that he'd lose in 2020. Also, a lot of Progressive groups would pillory Congress for it despite administrative realities.

I doubt they actually think this.

I'm reminded of Trump wanting the Navy to keep the hydraulic catapults for launching planes off aircraft carriers. See, the upgrades wouldn't have made clouds of steam, and Trump, moron that he is, assumed the steam clouds = better.

I'm not super impressed with treating diplomacy and global politics like a frat. You do you, though.

Except we're not talking about that, we're talking about global reaction to a change in domestic immigration policy. With regards to the specifics of the matter, you're very much out of step with the times; 63% of French say there is too many foreigners in their nation, 38% of Germans list immigration as their biggest concern and it tops the list of total concerns. It's no longer just the United States or nations like Poland.
