The Manchus were blocked out from the northern heartlands by forts with Portugese cannons on them until their subterfuge operations destabilised the Ming Dynasty to such degree that they gained access to Shanhaiguan. The Mongols got around the Great Wall by raping, pillaging and slaughtering their way through a lesser dynasty in the west first and then beating the combined Jin dynasty armies in passes near the Wall. Neither of which applies to the current US-Mexican situation.
