Not sure what difference it makes to my comment. Humans don't perceive differences in temperature when it's very cold, or when it's very hot. There's no difference between sitting in +40c in the shade and sitting in a sauna at 90c. There's no difference between ~-5c and -50c if you're dressed like you would be for -5c. Your body just doesn't perceive it. People who are moaning about it are snowflakes.

If I remember right the most perceived and felt 10 margin difference is between 3c and 13c. Which I would assume is correct because in the first instance you need at least two layers and probably a coat and gloves, in the second you'd get away with one layer. The further you go from this, the less relevant the temperature.

Honourable effort, but the point of tax reform is that in many countries, like here in London, we don't even need to touch the tax return form unless a certain criteria is met (e.g. self-employment).

Banks and employers usually tell the tax agency the annual salary or savings interest, and the computers do the number crunching so that the taxpayer can spend more time for the movies, instead of fiddling around with a calculator that cannot figure out that (√2)²=2 and not 1.9999998.

It also benefits the tax agency, because their employees can focus on resolving problems more humanely with the time that would have been wasted manually inputting so many simple tax returns that the computers can accomplish nowadays.

In some countries, the taxes are paid by the bank or employer, so that the tax bill that comes in the post is effectively akin to a bank statement that only requires action if something is wrong.

It was an exception, and not the rule to dictatorships, because for every LKY and Park Chung-hee, you get more than a dozen dictators who are very much the opposite of them and are in fact more common than they are. It wasn't even like Lee Kuan Yew was such a great guy, the man believed in eugenics because he believed women with better educational qualifications should make more babies than less qualified ones, and he may have quite possibly secretly ordered to torch down a low-income neighborhood filled with tens of thousands of people just to make way for more lucrative developments. Dictators aren't saints because of their unchecked power, and they shouldn't be defended. And the fact that a "minarchist" is defending dictators is telling of their actual beliefs, really.

I am not defending dictatorship as an instutition, merely pointing out that dictators can do good things. Democratic leaders aren't saints either if the number of bombed Middle Eastern hospitals is any indication.

You do realize that the the UK is currently ~94,054 square miles in area right? France is ~212,935 square miles in area. France has a population of 67 million, while the UK is 66 million.
