"Unhinged" and "browbeating" suggest someone out-of-control and straight-up intimidatory. Whereas his entire act involves wind-ups and tying honest people up in strawmen while he maintains an outward presentation of the calm, bemused "logician" who just can't understand why everyone is so triggered. The words you choose are important - right now it looks like you have zero idea of who the guy is and what he does, which of course only feeds his narrative.

Is he doing it to intentionally piss them off or is he just uncompromising in his beliefs that he refuses to cater to people he views as mentally ill? And yes, there is a difference. Both are dick-moves, certainly, but one is less so than the other.

To my understanding it's because he doesn't want to open himself to cheap "You identified them how they chose to be identified, therefore you accept their argument" tactics. I know he's said that in a privare conversation he'll use preferred pronouns, just not in debate.

Rather than a trans person using facts and logic, in this post I saw a non-binary person rant incoherently and post some YouTube links. As a "by exemplar" metacriticism of the Shapiro meme model of misleading hype this was very good and I congratulate you for that.

I mean, I'm not sure what was incoherent about it, and the youtube links excellently debunk his stupidity. But yes, there was also some metacrit going on.

Strasserism, a branch of Nazism (the other being Hitlerism) was very much of far-left taste, but I don't think Shapiro is referring to Strasserism (which ironically got purged by the Hitlerists in the mid-30s).

Yes, but that doesn't excuse the fact that he stayed calm and cool during the Zoe Tur incident.

I'd also like to remind you that Dr. Drew disputed the claim that she was delusional, and he is actually a psychiatrist (so much so that he is a professor of it). Facts don't care about Ben Shapiro's feelings.

If someone came up to you, saying the Earth is flat, and that anyone who knows otherwise is delusional or part of some vast conspiracy to make people believe the delusion, I'm pretty sure you'd also be like a deer in the headlights trying to debate against that.

In short, just because one has weaponized stupidity in a debate, does not mean their opinion is valid.

Which is by design on his part. He intentionally makes use of fighting words so that he can cry foul and whine about being a rational conservative man who is being oppressed by "violent libtards". Its manipulative as fuck, and I wish more people would realize that.

He's doing it to piss them off. When he appeared with transwoman Zoey Tur he called her "sir" until she got mad and threatened to deck him. When he appeared with transwoman Blair White he managed to actually be polite and civil.

Well, you've gotta keep in mind that he was "debating" against Zoey Tur. She was his opponent. He was on Blaire White's youtube channel as a guest, she's conservative as well, so she was (and is) his ideological ally, there was no debate.
