This grieves me as a proud Brit, but I am unable to perceive tea as more than the virginial muddy water whose sole purpose is to serve as the inadequate counterpart to the coffee chad.

I like tea, but prefer coffee.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

I am a purist when it comes to tea; no herbals, no flavored teas, just strong black brewed from tea leaves tea without milk, sugar, or other adulterants. I do not, however, put down enthusiasts of other forms of tea, I merely feel sorry for them as they have not yet matured their taste.

My personal favorite is Lapsang Souchong tea, a smoked tea with a unique taste. For everyday drinking, I go for a good strong mug of Irish Breakfast.

I like normal, plain 'ol tea.

Get a ceramic cup. Two sugars in, tea bag in, boiling water in, stir the tea bag till the water goes a nice tea colour, remove tea bag, add milk till it goes to the correct colour (knowledge of tea colours, is a British art), stir and drink

I like my tea without sugar or milk. But sometimes I put milk or sugar because it is basically black tea.

While I prefer my tea strong and black, I know that it is heresy punishable by death to put the milk into the cup before the tea. What I do not know is why? Can anyone explain, or is this just a religious mystery?

Tea is great, especially green tea, darjeeling, and lapsang souchong. Hot and with nothing added, just the water and the tea leaves. If it does not taste good by itself, then you need to get better quality tea.
