Tea Discussion Thread

Postby Tasuirin » Tue Dec 11, 2018 3:42 pm

The glorious victory of Team Tea against the oppressive Coffee Cabal has shown the tenacity and triumph of the cause of tea drinkers everywhere. It is completely obvious that the deserving beverage has won and has shown its great quality.

However, this is not the end for Team Tea. There is still much to discuss about the very nature of teas, from how one likes their tea, to what kinds of teas are the best, to the age-old question of milk or water first. But do not despair, tea drinkers of NationStates, for this thread shall not be a place of prejudice against even the most backwards and evil tea drinkers of this grand community.

So come with me, and come with tea, and we discuss the drink that began wars and ended them, that forced empires to expand for love of it, and which is enjoyed by people everywhere as the most majestic of drinks.

I like coffee better than tea; I only switched to voting for tea out of opportunism, like fascists claiming to be socialists I am a big fan of tea especially Earl Grey, chai, and oolong. Milk second; no sugar.
We are free to believe that this is the century of authority, a century tending to the right, a Fascist century. If the XIXth century was the century of the individual (liberalism implies individualism) we are free to believe that this is the "collective" century, and therefore the century of the State.

For me personally, I'll take most teas, but tea with milk is quite horrible to me. Not sure why I hate it so much, but give me a milkless tea any day.

Yeah, those count. To me, at least. I think only the most purist of tea enthusiasts would argue that they don't.

I prefer my tea without milk, unless it’s chai. Ceylon Orange tea with sugar or Iranian tea have to be my favorites. Oh, and Arizona iced green tea of course because I’m a sad boy on a budget

I like coffee more than tea, but I still enjoy tea. Usually just black tea, sugar, and milk.

Both are alright but I generally prefer coffee if it has a good, present flavor.

Earl Grey with just a hint of lemon and honey is how I take my tea most times. I'm also lucky enough to have a seeping system, and I can definetly say it is much better than any bagged tea I've ever had

Ach! I respect your opinion, though you are objectively wrong and you should feel bad. :p

Ah, yes, Chai would be nice with milk, I think. And iced green teas are amazing. Don't think I've ever had Iranian, though. I should see if I can find some.

Ah, the old classic! Can't go far wrong with that.

One of my favorite things about the Arizona Iced Tea is how much it pisses Brits off, as those I’ve met believe that iced tea is no longer tea and in fact is an insult to tea itself, and they’re also salty that it only costs 99 cents here but it’ll run you up the equivalent of $3 over there.
And Tasuirin, if you want to try it you can *attempt* to make it at home, but I recommend hunting for a tea house if you can. It’s not too different from chai, but it’s worth it.

I do have a pretty impressive tea house close by, so I'll see if they have it.
As for iced tea, when I lived over there, that was the only tea I'd drink. I only started drinking hot tea with my moving to Australia.

Matcha, both hot and cold, is my favorite tea. I also like plain green tea with honey, Jasmine, chamomile, rooibos and dandelion.

Rooibos and dandelion tea are two very much underrated tea types. Very nice.

I've found the greatest debate is 'do you take milk?'

Some think it desecrates the sacred nature of tea, while others couldn't have tea without it.
