It is April 1945 the Yamato is on it's final mission, ten go (heaven one) it's missionb to beach it's self on the shores of Okinawa and use it's guns to pound the American forces there into oblivion. In our timeline this never happed as Yamato was sunk by a massive force of aircraft. But in this timeline things go differently, first of all the seas around the Yamato are unusually stormyb so stormy in fact that the air strike launched against her can not spot her under the cloud tops, because of this the Americans decide to send there battleahips to intercept the Yamato and her escorting fleet. The first ship to be under way to Yamato's possible position is the U.S.S. Iowa. The other battleships that were intended to accompany her are unable to do so, the Japanese in this timeline feared that the battleships would be sent against the Yamato and prevent her from fulfilling her mission, as such they had sent a massive kamikaze strike at the American fleet forcing the other battleships to stay behind and protect the carriers, however the strike avrived to late for the Iowa is already on her way to challenge the pride of the Japanese navy. In this timeline an epic fight took place between the prides of the Japanese and American fleets. Unfortunately this never happened in our timeline as cool as it would have been to see, unfortunately we are left with not and speculation, this is the purpose of this thread to set up a scenario and speculate about it's outcome. So how goes the battle does one of them go down after a serious betting? Does one of them get a lucky shot by hitting the magazine? Do they exchange shots seriously damages each other and they both with draw? Heck do they run out of shells then resort to ramming each other?
Now let the debate begin!
