Some of the fetishes on it are so unbelievably vile, yet they are so commonly showcased that I have become desensitized to it.

I've lurked on /d/, so commonly showcased, yet unbelieveably vile fetishes are nothing new to me. But my main problem with going to a furry site for porn is that I'm not a furry, and that material actively turns me off. That was the decent thing about Tumblr's porn, is that I could find the material that catered to my kinks without messing around that shit I didn't want to see, and without having to wade into the toxic cesspool known as 4chin.

Lemme tell you, browsing through smut material that you dislike or outright find repulsive to find that one gem of a turn-on while aroused is a very polarizing experience.

Having resorted to NSFW Discord servers where there's no fur/non-fur segregation, I entirely know what you're talking about. I'd still rather be able to not see unwanted content.

Yes, but given how often its bot moderation flags SFW content as inappropriate, likely not for long.

...I'm not gonna lie, the only reason I've ever visited Tumblr in my life is to look at porn blogs, but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find replacements elsewhere on the Internet :p

Lol, get nae-nae'd, Tumblr.

Still got me chan boards :p

Reminds me of YouTube's demonetization crackdown on controversial and adult content. I wonder if it will pull a YouTube and accidentally target LGBT stuff too. That would be sort of ironic.

The Verge

Following Apple removing Tumblr from the app store for a "child pornography incident", Tumblr decides to completely ban all NSFW adult content.

Seeing as though Tumblr is infamous for it's pornographic content, they've basically nuked most of their community in doing so. Is this type of censorship tolerable or justified? Many people believe this is due in part because of their "pornbots" not dealing with the pedophile ring properly. Many users are comparing this to MySpace and it's irrelevancy. It brings up the topic of companies censoring their platforms and a new wave of progressive-ness in social media.

Thoughts?

EDIT: Adult Content Article in Help Centre

Bye, bye, Tumblr. It will be toast inside of a year.

This seems... excessive.

Not that I care -- I mean, I've never gone there. And besides, if Tumblr wants to go the way of Tumblr next year, well...

The closest site with the same amount of variety, at least that I've encountered, is 4chan. And we all know what that place is like...

It already is, flagging LGBT as NSFW, apparently.

And then you have the ones that require TOR and a proxy, lest you want to say hi to the FBI.

Nah, just kidding, the Deep Web's boring.

From what I hear, financial services and companies such as banks, hate handling transactions for porn websites. Why? Because accountants working for banks which do transactions for porn sites have noted over time that these websites are more correlated with high occurrences of fraud, money-laundering, identity theft and requests for refunds.

At best such content offends conservative sensibilities and at worst, it is illegal. So it is a huge hassle in terms of overhead. Payment processors charging interest of 30 to 50%+ per transaction isn't unheard of in those circumstances. Being an adult website in the eyes of a bank is quite a major con now. Financial companies aren't stupid, they do their due diligence and figure out what goes on with who they're doing business with.
