I knew that. There's PornHub (it's literally in the name) Xvideos, etc.

Even though I don't like tumblr, I have to say that it's in their full right to ban or take down any posts or matieral they don't like as a company. I really don't understand how people are always complaining when a social website, that is run by a COMPANY, decides to censor or take down something they don't think will benefit them. They aren't the government, they are a company and as a company they have full domain over their website.

A 13.4 civilization, according to this index.

It was a place where you could share porn, be open about sexuality, talk about the news, talk about other topics, find new fandoms, plan a revolution, joke around and do so much more. And at the same timebits the only place where every fetish group could talk and connect freely.

Easy because it sucks when it happens. I mean userslike myself have been given two weeks to find a way to download years worth of reblogs, and likes or risk losing all of it.

*sigh* Right now many people are saving what they can, saying their goodbyes, and are heading to a site like twitter to wait for pillowfort to be ready, heading to a site like pornhub to make it their main site, or are seemingly giving up and all the rest of us can do is hope that maybe one day we'll see them again. The whole thing is about as miserable as it sounds.

I would unironically support a forum/blog section for PornHub.

Might be an idea worth considering!

Don't speak bad about Newgrounds. It'd truly be obsolete if NG didn't make any efforts at all in transitioning to HTML5 but has updated itself and tries hard to still have purpose. It started out as the kingdom of Adobe Flash, but this isn't necessarily all it has to be known for. I'd still be proud to call myself a Newgrounds regular if I still had time for such entertainment. Good memories there, I must say.

So apparently Tumblr shooting themselves has forced people to move to the expanding dump fire of Twitter, revive Newgrounds and possibly make Pixiv more mainstream?

Well, if Tumblr users can organize, they might be able to petition PornHub to create such a thing.

People are going to miss the old Tumblr because supposedly there doesn't exist another porn website like it. It is quite different in that individual accounts were able to make themed "pages" that appealed to particular people. Different images/video/etc. could be collated onto one page that had a particular theme instead of videos and images being separated out into traditional category sections.

There is probably going to be a replacement perhaps that'll fill the void left behind by Tumblr's decision to become SFW but only time will tell. I expect a bit of disruption in the mean time, which will pass. Regardless of what happens, the dust settles where it will.

Well, on one hand, it seems like there are good intentions here, but it sounds like the implementation is a total disaster. They really need to fix the AI or just switch to relying on human moderators. Also, while I do not necessarily approve of pornographic drawings, I am concerned that this change might lead to more people viewing porn with real actors, which could lead to more exploitation and human trafficking.

For over a century before that pornography was not considered to be free speech, until some activist judges decided to arbitrarily twist the constitution to shoot down a perfectly legitimate law. And even if free speech did include porn, perhaps it would be better not to have free speech at all.

You mean because there have definitely been no studies on rapists after getting out of prison who said they use porn as a release?

Why would you trust that their testimony was accurate? Even if they did use it "as a release", there must be a healthier way to treat these people's psychological problems. Besides, if they are watching porn that could mean that the actors would effectively become the victims, due to the exploitation occurring in the industry. Switching from direct victimization to indirect victimization is not really solving the problem.

Every single website that has adult content has to have a thorough process for taking down and rooting out CP and taking whatever actions necessary to whoever is responsible for uploading what is illegal. So long as end users have the ability to do any uploading of content, there is always going to be this danger happening.

It is unfortunate that Tumblr has decided to do a purge with such a broad brush, but they probably recognize that they don't know how to deal with the problem satisfactorily enough to stay legal and is opting to not partake in adult content whatsoever. They have a reasonable belief that the risks inherent to porn will go away in simply not having it.
