Do you like the wrinkle effect?

Postby Serailia » Mon Dec 03, 2018 12:05 pm

Many people on the forum have told me very mixed views about the wrinkle on flags. Many, such as me, think it looks good, but many will disagree strongly.
I do like it, because it gives lack of boredom to simplistic designs. What do you think? be sure to vote on the poll, and give your thoughts below!

Depends on what you're using as the placeholder in your flag image spot - if its an actual flag, the wrinkle effect is great. If it's not a flag, like quite a bit of forum users, and another image then the wrinkle effect just simply looks foolish.

Click on settings and find the flag, then check the wrinkle box.

When you upload a custom flag, there's a tiny box you can check that applies this.

Under "Choose File," is the box saying "Add Ripple Effect."

I don't particularly care for it. It looks okay on some flags, but even on flags it looks good on, I'd rather just see it totally unaltered.

Earthbound immortal squad wrote:How do you even apply this effect?

Go to your Settings, then "Create a national flag", reupload your flag and tick the "Add ripple effect".
Wait an hour, and it will be now again

Gonna throw my hat in the "looks cool on genuinely flag-like designs, but clashes too much with complex imagery" camp.

In the context of my NationStates page being a wiki-like reference for my country, I really don't see the point for a ripple effect here.

I obviously use it. Some like it on my flag, other's don't, so...¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I prefer flags with letters on them to be wrinkle free. Same with complex flags.

Other than that, i like them a lot. I'm glad it's an option.

the red on yellow is two bright, unless you add a wrinkle.

No point using it since it'll just make my pic look even darker than it already is

It looks great on symmetrical flags. On other flags or non-flag avatars... not so much.

Depends on the flag, legit flags... Heck yeah! Slap it on their, but other complex flags, it gets to busy.

Depends on the flag. Mine looks duller with the wrinkle effect.
