If Catalonia and the Basques get our independence, Andalusia is next on the list. Seriously, they’ve got the 3rd largest independence movement in the country.

I mean, Spain already has customs control over those territories. The actual problem is they now have to put customs and toll gates against Gibraltar and Britain didn't even bother including them in the talks and simply demanded that an EU external border to be installed against the exclave. Needless to say this is going to cause massive issues for people living and working across the border. Considering this I think it's honestly reasonable for Madrid to ask that the Gibraltar issue is included in the overall discussions.

Not the UK, as indicated by Brexit. And since the UK is the country in question, they can just deal with their border checkpoints.

And I’ve been to Spain, their border checks are a bored chap waving people through, barely looking at the passports. I’m sure we needn’t be concerned.

It's not an empty threat, and need not necessarily be a purely conventional war. It's about your own citizens, not just some rock with trees on it.
Yes it is, considering the very limited capability of the British military and the fact it is unable to conduct operations of that scale over the distances required. Also Spain is in NATO so you would be declaring war on the US.

It is silly, but that didn't stop the Falklands war from happening. As for Gibraltar itself there have been warning shots but fortunately neither side have been stupid enough to escalate from that.
Sure a war is theoretically possible. But not remotely probable unless the entire political environment drastically changes, NATO and the world economy collapses and rogue dictators take over one or both countries involved.

I love the smell of geopolitical trolling in the morning. It's just a shame that Catalonia's independence movement doesn't seem to have half the motivation as other movements like the SNP. As a unionist I don't support the SNP, but I do respect Nicola Sturgeon's view on the Catalonia vote when she said- "If the Catalonian vote wasn't legal [according to Spain] then that only begs the question; what vote is legal? You cannot call yourself a democracy while denying people the right to vote."

That's the thing...no vote would be legal under the Constitution, because the Constitution doesn't allow for Independence because it doesn't allow for the right to self-determination.
