I mean the age of consent in my state is 16, but still, that's still to young to get actually married.

In a ton of conservative locales (even in the US) marriage can be used as a loophole.

Its not okay for an adult to have sex with a minor generally speaking, but if they manage to marry the girl in question first, this is often seen as somehow more "sanctified" and there are no laws or anything to prevent a husband from consummating their marriage. In that situation, a guy who is 18 or older usually can get away with sex with a girl who is below 18 years of age with no legal consequences if discovered. If there are no laws on the books to prevent it and if the girl's parents and the bride in question allow the marriage to happen.

Pretty much this. They rely too heavily on automated systems to address abuse reports without anywhere close to enough human oversight, and thus those systems are merely weaponized by trolls against people they don't like while legit complaints get dismissed with "Does not violate our community standards" boilerplates. The new mom posting a pic of her breastfeeding her kid gets yanked down because "OMG BOOBS", but the racist terrorist spewing threats about Jews/blacks/whatever is allowed to keep on making those threats. FB moderation is, simply put, a complete shitshow.

They have to rely on automated moderation to some extent. There's over 2 billion users on Facebook. They simply don't have the manpower to use humans to police it all.

There's nothing wrong with automation, but the system currently in place is more often used as a weapon to shut down groups/pages/people that haven't actually violated FB rules, and communication with regards to contesting those automated bans and the like is a steaming sack of shit. The automated system needs more oversight, and it is readily apparent that enforcement is an area that FB is severely understaffed in given that such abuse is widespread and enforcement so uneven. I mean geez, we have more consistent, coherent enforcement and a clearer procedure for contesting a ruling than they do, and we're at roughly 1 volunteer moderator per 9000 players! (And depending on how many of us are active at any given time, probably closer to 1 mod/15,000 players.) Surely with all the money Facebook brings in, they could afford enough hands on deck to properly oversee the automated system and reliably address problems. A two week turnaround time from paid professionals is just appalling.

To be honest, I think that Facebook would be vastly improved if they at least got all of NS' mods and admins on there. The only downside of that would be that NS will either be shuttered, become a hellscape of trolls and flamers, or becoming known as Facebook NationStates.

Nationstates is basically a more fun version of Facebook

You can have a Friends/Foe list, tag things to your Sig and create personalised A and F threads... meanwhile, you can also participate in discussions, create threads, and run a fictional nation. All while maintaining optional anonymity.

I think Nation States is the future. Facebook will run its course.

Max is the next Zuckerberg. People don't want to share things about their lives or connect (its all so boring and depressing), they want to create and share their creations. This is what Facebook and Twitter is missing... There's literally nothing imaginative or worthwhile about photos from your boring lives and no one really cares that much for your kids. Humans are fundamentally driven to create and interact... not merely project what exists on a surface level.

That or they want to make money... (and facilitate silly auctions)

in the USA there are more than 200000 child marriages and girls as young as 10-year-old and boys as young as 11-year-old have been married (both in Tenessee). 18 states still have no minimum age of marriage
