At least the GOP is getting on board with things like protectionist economics which is proving popular in a number of circles and Trump at least is a nice break from ye olde religious conservatism. Sure not the entire party is going to agree with everything that happens and there will always be differing factions but if they found a better figurehead than Trump that could still whip up the base without the constant scandals a nationalist wing of the GOP could do quite well in the future, imo.

A genuinely nationalist wing perhaps, I doubt they'd follow through with it though. Most of the GOP appears to dislike 45's stance on trade.
