The difference between Irish Twitter on our elections and American Twitter on your elections is fascinating. Irish Twitter is a mix of pictures of dogs at polling stations and offers/requests for lifts from major transport hubs to polling stations. American Twitter is offers of legal aid if you're turned away from a polling place and desperate pleas for people to stay in line as long as it takes to vote.


We can learn a lot from each other, I think. Ireland could learn how to do postal voting. And America could learn how to have dogs at polling stations.

This is rather accurate, to be fair.

If increased turnout shows an even narrower margin in the elections than expected, parties are usually eager to spend more funds in campaigns in a state they think they can win for the next two years or so.

So it is not entirely useless tbh. There's a reason why the Libertarians tend to see Texas as a good state to back candidates, because they usually win a seat or two in our state government, so they are confident they can win an election if enough money is spent locally.
