Well the GOP already had house in '14, so that's not really a fair comparison. '10 actually is a better metric.

'10 is not the norm. The last midterm comparable to '10 was in fucking '48, so don't back the "Lackluster for a midterm" bull by trying to compare '10.

Well, yes, but not the way you think. It's now a 'get out of argument free' card that lets you ignore that you've presented a premise so incredibly stupid its only possible corollary is a dumb rule to a made up sport in a kids book that renders the whole game meaningless and instead be indignant that your incredibly stupid premise is being compared to it. Of course in order to do it you have to pretend to not be able to derive meaning from context or be incapable of having a conversation on anything other than your specific terms, essentially pretending to be stupid in order to look smart, but it's also super cool. Because, of course, internet.

Yes, but in 02, Republicans already had the house, and benefited from the reaction to 9/11, so it's not comparable to these midterms. in 06, the swing is comparable to '18

I think the original point was that, this midterm was not the huge blue wave that was touted it was going to be. No shades of '10 here, instead we got a typical midterm election, with a modest swing in the house. Not really a blue wave, just more politics as usual.

I don't hate America. I hate the idea of religiously enforced morality, fervent and ethnic nationalism, and of course the Far Right. And of course, I hate the idea of monopolar or bipolar balance of power.

And yet you say in your sig you are a PERSIAN NATIONALIST. Is that for NS itself or are you actually a PERSIAN NATIONALIST? Because hmmmmm that’s ethnic nationalism.

Sort of jamming the dial there a bit. Between 2010 and now, changes in the House topped out at 13. Outside of ideological shifts, that's the norm. Thirteen would be 'modest'. This was not 'modest'.

Honestly I think the entire worry over a “red wave” and a “blue wave” keeps people from actually focusing on what’s important in politics. But that’s none of my business.
