Either way, though... fuck Obama. What else have you got to deflect with?

He did but he issued more controversial EOs. Line the one where he could drone Americans without due process

Man, we gave him too much of a free pass on that shit. :/

Am I the only one who fully expected O'Rourke to lose? I recall a lot of certainty in that outcome in this very thread.

I honestly did expect it, but I was still shocked.

Why? A suburban and urban coalition (which is what they're trying to build) would easily overwhelm any rural coalition.

You mean keep the piece of shit that is FPTP? Fuck no.

I want my open party list proportional representation in the house and STV in the senate.

By doing what? There were fantastic candidates and they still voted against them. I bet in some places Christ himself could be nominated as Democrat and he still wouldn't win

There are some in the Democratic Party more obsessed with lampooning, disparaging or otherwise demeaning rural and/or white voters than paying attention to them. They seem to be the ones who interpret supporting non-white Americans with regards to legal, educational and employment issues as being some sort of carte blanche to talk about and blame white Americans in the same manner neo-Nazis do with Jews.

That will win you the HoR but not the Senate and the Presidency would still be up in the air. Not to mention that rural communities are still part of the country and deserve to have their voices heard and needs looked after. Unless you truly just want the Democrats to be a party of urbanistas and damn everyone else.

Fantastic candidates overshadowed by the national party and the behavior of urban supporters.

Why not? The Democrats can and should be able to represent their interests too.

It's extremely naive that you think both parties would and even should try to represent everyone. They each have their own coalitions and are going to stick with that.

No I’m saying that the people in the rural areas are voting for their interests, those interests however just happen to not line up with what you want

Exactly.

Pelosi and Schumer win their individual elections with ease, but they are far from inspiring leaders and Pelosi's victory speech last night rubbed a lot of left-wing voters the wrong way.

I didn't say they should represent everyone lmao. They don't even represent all urban and suburban voters.

In the long haul a party that is collapsing in urban areas will not win you the Senate or the presidency. its unsustainable. Not to mention demographics are not on their side either.

Obama took 45% of the rural vote nationwide in 2008. It's not naive.

Well that’s not working in Georgia, Florida, or Texas. So say good by to those states

It sure seems that way. Florida could have had a amazing governor but they voted for a racist with no real plan.
