I live in northeast Ohio and there's Ohio State University stuff (not just apparel but also things like lawn decorations, office supplies, &c. with the school logo) all over the place even though the school itself is down in Columbus. Honestly the only thing that would really indicate whether you went to one place or another would be a degree or diploma, and if you have one of those from a school you never attended then that would be misleading.

I don't know how to answer the first question. I mean, its as important as anything else?

I don't understand why you asking if people knew my occupation before asking me about the NASA bomber. They didn't ask if I worked for NASA they wanted to know where I got it.

NASA bomber????

the idea is that if they knew (your occupation beforehand) then they would naturally not ask you whether you work at NASA, they would logically jump to the question about where you got it... hence the fact that they didn't ask doesn't necessarily show that they couldn't have been misled had they not known your occupation before hand...

Yeah... why wouldn't it be?

Unless colleges are cults (which some honestly might be) I don't see why anyone would take issue with something like that.

Bomber jacket. It’s a heavy brown jacket with patch logos on it. It supposedly resembles the jackets WW2 bombers wore

It’s not a expression. It’s a type of jacket as was explained to you earlier.

I find that hard to believe. It’s a popular term in fashion.

Unless the college has done really shady things in the past, like, I don't know, have Jerry Sandusky in your fucking football program, it is appropriate to wear apparel from a college that you didn't attend.

Why would apparel from Penn State be inappropriate? I don't think anyone would think someone wearing something from Penn State would think they support that monster.

If the university supplied it to a student for free, maybe not. But if it's paid for, I don't see why not, especially if from a non-university source.

I don't see what's bad about wearing apparel from a college one didn't attend.
My mom wears shirts that say Hendrix College because I go to that college, but she doesn't.
Me and my parents wear Razorback apparel despite none of us ever going to the University of Arkansas; however, that might be different due to the fact that it involves a sports team.

Okay... not sure why but okay...

I mean, I see jackets in stores. Never occurred to me to start categorizing/researching further besides the occasional attention I pay of “oh I like this color.”

It’s not like I hang around people and we talk about clothes...

No one said you had to talk about clothes but bomber jacket is fairly common phrase one hears. Considering you didn't know what a bomber jacket is im curious if you know what a polo shirt is?

I'd say it is 100% okay with wearing college apparel from a college you didn't go to. I mean my Twin went to a different college than me and I would wear it to support her. I also have a lot different college gear from colleges that I thought about attending or the three other colleges that I've attended. I do not wear them to the current college I go to because I absolutely love the school I'm at.

In the US universities are primarily privately funded and for profit. In other words they are businesses which often sell rights to produce things using their trademarked logo. So yes wear the crap if you want to.
