So....you're pledging to vote for the guy who explicitly wants to make Brazil's already high murder rate even worse? He's literally pledged to murder 30,000 people, which would raise the homicide rate by 50%, even without counting all the hate crimes he's inspiring his followers to commit. If you want a safe, crime-free Brazil, vote for Haddad. He will try to actually reduce homicides, not increase them.

And how has it worked out so far when the leftists have tried to fix the Brazilian situation? Just more holes into a sinking ship.

If Bolsonaro allows the beef lobby to continue cutting down the Amazon and works to disenfranchise Amerindians, I think Europe should adopt sanctions on Brazilian beef.

Opened for discussion by Your OP Thread Host as I Like to call myself:

Lets not forget Popular Brazilian Lula da Silva went to prison on corruption charges for only 12 months I think not sure, please someone check out online for how long he was sent to prison to be sure, thank you, and barred from being the Far Left Workers Party candidate for President of Brazil with Fernando Haddad as his Vice President, and he was expected to win by a landslide, while I do think he is corrupt it was also political to keep him off the Presidential elections, vote, post and discuss.

Now it looks like Far Right former Army Captain and retired General Antonio Hamilton Mourão will win the Brazilian Presidential Elections.

Posted by the most conservative Republican Nationalist of NS as I like to call myself, but that doesnt mean I agree with President Trump 100 % on all issues, I dont agree with any politician 100 % on all issues, and neither do you all, I think.

In that case, China definitely has an insanely high murder rate.

I know Haddad can't make that come true, but he will make minor progress towards reducing crime. On the other hand, Bolsonaro will make Brazil much more violent and crime ridden than it is now.

If people are living in fear of being murdered, it doesn't matter if the government is the one doing the murdering. Murder is murder, no matter who does it.

Jesus Christ. Expected, but hugely disappointing.

I don't blame Brazilians. Bolsonaro is the result of failed policy and corruption. He's just the total wrong answer to major problems.

Bolsonaro types winning makes sense if you consider how much middle and upper class voters in South America tend to care about corruption and crime, often far more than they do about economic and social policy. Add to that a mainstream media that heavily emphasized the corruption in left or center-left parties, and you've served the country on a silver platter to men like Bolsonaro (and, to a lesser extent, Macri).

Much like how in the United States the right has cultivated a sizeable population of fear-fueled single-issue voters around abortion, sexual minorities or immigrants, the South American right did the same with crime and corruption.
