I've always wanted to thru -hike the AT too.

Aimed for a week-long backpacking trip in March for Spring Break but had to pack up and backtrack after the first night because the weather was unfavorable. Apparently, everybody else had the same idea if the trail hiking forums and blogs are to be believed: Get off the trail.

I've hiked 10 miles of the Appalachian Trail, ending north of Doll Flats, on the NC/TN border, after having started just before the two humps that precede it.

That was a weekend trip with a lot of people. Tried shooting for a 75 mile, week-long trip in March but that didn't go well.
