Fran Drescher's angelic voice is an acquired taste.

Very picturesque scenes in that neighbourhood, especially Station Square.

I saw talking heads, at the tennis center there. Actually a nice little section of queens.

The area kinda conflicts with the mental picture of New York I carefully assembled over the years in my head. Now I'm confused.

You have two options: re-evaluate your picture of New York with new evidence or irrationally double down and ignore this.

In this post-truth era, it is common for people to opt for the second option. I, however, do still have some dignity left.

Ah, the kinetic bombardment option again, I see.

Pre war, new money. Lovely area, very expensive.

Where I grew up in the city was beach town.

Doesn't exactly sound as the slums either.

Where I grew up was.

The city is wealthy beyond absurdity. We were talking about it the other day, I make a decent living, I couldn't afford a 3 bedroom apt on my salary. My mortgage payment hasn't changed much in 10 years, rents and housing doubled.

If I recall correctly your what would be practically upper class salary in Ireland assuming you weren't a single income household wouldn't have covered two months worth of mortgage repayments here.

Yaaaaaay.

Given how we do not want to return to the troglodyte lifestyle, that is just the way it is.

Funny, we said something along those lines, along with "lessons learned" and "contingencies to never again create such a housing bubble" late recession.

But that is just the way it is.

What we're gonna do right here is go back, way back, back into time
When the only people that existed were troglodytes
Cave men, cave women, Neanderthal, troglodytes
Let's take the average cave man at home, listening to his stereo
Sometimes he'd get up, try to do his thing
He'd begin to move, something like this
"Dance...dance"

It is in the nature of capitalism to create a neverending string of crises and survive every single one of them. Granted, some (or horrifyingly high amounts of) people may perish because of collateral effects, but that never stopped the ravenous beasts of the free market before.

I think orangutans are cute too, Hurde, but until sapience is proven I'm afraid we're going to just have to consider it wholesale natural resource exhaustion as opposed to genocide until we lose a few too many miles of rainforest or waters tip a little too far over that sea wall of yours.
