I love swimming in freshwater lakes. There's no chlorine to get in my eyes.

The only problem is the risk of Swimmer's Itch when the water is contaminated with parasites. I only ever got that once when I was a child; it was one of the most unbearable sensations that I have ever experienced. The water in Muggelsee by contrast was very clean, I didn't have that problem there.

The lake where I like to swim most likely doesn't have that problem, most likely because it's in the middle of nowhere.

Swim or sink, it's that simple. Not everyone will make it, unless you talk about the statistics.

Nah. If anything, the more remote locations are at higher risk of it, as I'd imagine that polluted water would result in the death of the parasites that cause Swimmer's Itch, and the pollution would deter the source animals from using it.

Yeah I actually sometimes prefer salt water swimming because of its parasite-killing abilities.

I don't. I don't like the sand, and to a lesser extent, the saltwater.

I've made friends with a couple being so close to the beach, send her over here. One in particular manages to have just a ridiculous tush in even a compressing wet suit.

Of all the bloodsucking parasites leeches are the best. The rarely spread diseases and unless your allergic to them which is really rare then they barely affect you.
