Yeah, always having to point out the errors made by our peers tends to become rather tedious.

Sudden present, I'd go for.
Ireland's almost-hurricane of last year has fully graduated to snowstorms in November a bit further north, Extra-Watery Venice, and Suddenly Very Not Watery Ireland. And here I was thinking we were the boring continent weather-wise.
Exciting times.

And the potato harvests are lacking because of the extremely dry and warm summer. I think we can both agree that is never a good thing.

Indeed, but if I may make a suggestion - it may be time to add a few more centimeters to that sea wall of yours. Priorities, we can have a spud panic next year should our little carbohydrate shortage drag on a bit. Famines are rarely a famine in the first year, after all.

Consider this: what if the Russians are no longer capable of making enough vodka in order to keep existence tolerable because of the lack of potatoes? The mind shudders.

Nonsense, if the Russians cannot grow enough potatoes in Rostov, Russia, they shall do so in Munich, Russia. All's well.

Now I've been in Munich, but I've never been in a Russian city. The various components of your statement do not add up, unless we allow for a a dangerous shift of parameters.

Get off the internet.
Let more fresh air into your room, exercise before bed, drink more water in preparation for tonight's sleep. Reading a book helps me nod off, as does telling myself NOT to fall asleep if I'm having trouble. The brain doesn't register negative commands very well.

If I have a hard time falling sleep, telling myself NOT to fall asleep works wonders. :)
