Evangelical, so par for the course.
When I was in Colorado (Evangelical capital of the US) the older pastors and chuch workers would surround my school every few months of so and try to shove Bibles into the hands of people who I guess they deemed to be in need of saving. Happened to me 3 times caused I usually wore mostly black, gray, red, etc...

Ah, yes. The three genders. Black, gray, red.

Once, when I was clearly not looking as happy as a person ought to be when absentmindedly browsing windows and waiting for someone, I had a JW woman shove a leaflet into my hand, promising that joining the JWs would fill me with new purpose and joy.
Those groups always go for those they think may be vulnerable. They're like lions, picking off the lame ones in a herd.
She'd misjudged, and it went straight in the bin...

Could be nice though sounds like we're getting blanks so at least we get to shoot at shit, probably each other
Blank firing exercises are always a good roar, especially if you get to do trench clearing with grenades and bayonets. At night it’s utter chaos though; flares going up and sergeants being even more shouty than normal.
Having said that they’re only fun if you’re just doing a firing exercise. Not so fun when it’s part of a longer weekend in the field; sleeping outside, damp kit, cold rations et cetera.

You’re one of the lads that gets a real hard-on for the military huh
I doubt it’s going to be much, I’m just hoping to lay down on a nice patch of grass and get some sleep at some point. Packed a ton of food and my sergeants are pretty relaxed so it should be a decent time.
I’ve been getting very little sleep lately but that’s largely my own fault, staying up late facetiming that girl

Hard on? Eh, possibly. I enjoy what I do, it’s great fun. There are ups and downs of course but at this stage it’s mostly ups. And being a reservist it gives me a break from the monotony of my everyday life.
I tend not to take too much of my own food on exercise but then again I’m not sure what sort of rations you guys get issued in the US. Normally I’ll take my own tea bags and some biscuits -everything else is provided or would take up too much room.

Personally I always found the evangelicals to be rather deranged, given their various tendencies. Wishing hell upon everyone who's not like them is only one of the grievances, their insane desire for the death and destruction of our world is another.

When I was teaching there was a lovely American gent fighting a righteous holy crusade by himself by plaguing the schools in the city, trying to get in to preach at the kids. School caretaker knocked him into a wheelbarrow and rolled him off school property one time when I was on lunchtime yard supervision duty, that was a fun day.
That of course being but one of the city's many characters that occasionally tried to climb the gates.

I was told to bring as much food and water as I would need for the day — likely not needed because they tend to bring a hefty amount of water canisters and my buddy said he was helping to pack up and load boxes of MREs for lunch. Regardless, I’m not trying to even risk losing a single pound so I’m bringing a lot of my own food.
Being a reservist probably keeps your enthusiasm pretty high, active duty kills it

I'd question if he was a zombie, but no-one goes into schoolyards looking for brains.
