I'm wondering. How did a discussion about a right wing nutjob sending bombs to Democrats turn into "I wanna bash anything to the left of Keynes"?

I mean I have no love for socialism as an economic system, but the whataboutism is strong here.

Some people think that people like Antifa stand for the left.
I am completely okay with monitoring and in some cases even suppressing extremist organizations no matter who they are.

True but people like Richard Spencer don't have to be actual members of the ANP for people to be justified in calling them Nazis.
Groups like the National Policy Institute imo should be monitored as much as any group that we suspect of supporting Islamic Terrorism.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say they probably are monitored pretty closely just like Klan organizations.

The antifa are actually wildly irritating. And in countries that have experience with the actual antifa, like we do, we (being those not on the radical or far-left) almost all strongly dislike them. They only cause fights with the police and damage to public and private property.

Over things like labor laws, or universal access to universities or something.

I do find it interesting that so many American far-rightwingers have found common cause in defending Nazis though...

People who think this are why they're getting back into power.

No they're not. Nazi's will never become a power in the United States. I myself will stand against our government and respond with equal aggression if it ever starts shipping jews away to concentration camps to be slaughtered en masse. No one deserves a genocide.

But at the same time, until that day comes, I'm going to sit here and not get my feathers in a rough because "Holocaust man said a bad thing." That mindset is the equivalent of punching someone in kindergarden because they said your overalls looked stupid.

This is a child's idea of how fascists come to power. How do you think it will work? A man with a silly moustache called Hadolf Itler comes to the forefront, gets power in a coup and starts gassing minority X?

This is how it went in Germany: After a period of economic hardship and political upheaval, the Nazi party gets a large minority (not a majority) in parliament. Their brown shirts have been street fighting with communists for years, and the country wants rest. In order to stop the violence, President Hindenburg appoints Adolf Hitler as chancellor. After the death of the President, Hitler combines the two positions and becomes Führer, or 'leader'. After the 1933 Reichtstag fire Hitler has the constitution abolished and grants himself emergency powers. There is of course violence against Jews, but with people more worried about getting food on their plate, the fate of the Jews doesn't really concern them. In 1934 you have the Night of the Long Knives, in which the party top is cleansed of all figures not directly loyal to Hitler. In the meantime, all of Hitler's political opponents are jailed. That's socialists, communists and anarchists, but also centrists, Catholics, liberals and other Nazis. They all disappear because they stand in the way of the Führer's vision for Germany. This really is the last time you can stage a proper revolt. After this, it becomes rather harder, as potential allies are locked in concentration camps. Mind, the Jews are not jet put into those camps, at least not yet. Political figures are jailed, but the population at large is put into ghettos. During the war, these ghettos get emptied, and the Jews are transported to labour camps. In 1942, having come to the conclusion that the Jews are literally eating too much, the Nazis start exterminating them. They are indeed put into box cars, driven to Birnkenau, the healthy are worked to death while those who cannot work are instantly exterminated.

Two points: One, at which point are you going to heroically oppose the Nazi government? Before they get elected? No, because you just said that you should not oppose them while they are not in power. After they gain power? You better start acting quickly, because the 'hauling of minorities' only starts once all political opponents have been eradicated. When do you rebel? In 1933, immediately? Will you be able to tell when a proto-fascist government takes power? Or will you revolt in 1939 or 1942, when the Gestapo has total control, works outside the bounds of the law, and can execute your village for looking at you funny? In 1939, the government starts shipping Jews east in order to concentrate them. That's the point you mentioned. Still so eager?

Secondly, you see why I really dislike Nazis. There is no value to their opinions. None whatsoever. A Nazi wants to take total control of the government and eradicate political opposition. Their views have no place in a democratic society. Leaving them be to spread their filth literally serves no purpose. We cannot allow them even remotely close to power. And yet, people stand up for these maniacs, defending the freedom of speech of people whose only political goal is to trample everyone whose skull has a slightly different shape. Their views are worthless, or worse than that. Actually harmful.

Communist ideology has bad economic models and won't work, but it can achieve its end goals without bloodshed. Naziism cannot possibly, because bloodshed is part of its nature. Bloodshed is a goal.

My grandfather was Ukrainian, but he moved to Poland after some time. did everything in his power to more or less keep himself safe. even spent time in Turkey.
