Obviously, the modern concepts of left and right-wing politics originated in Enlightenment Europe and do not necessarily give an adequate explanation of ancient Roman politics. Nevertheless, Caesar's attempts to radically change the Roman constitution on behalf of the common people against the entrenched aristocracy is reminiscent of the actions of many left-wing revolutionaries. On the other hand, Caesar was instrumental in creating the office of Roman Emperor, which has been revered by many monarchists and right-wing traditionalists as an important political and religious institution in pre-modern European politics. It is also worth noting that in Medieval legend, Caesar was counted as one of the "Nine Worthies" of chivalry.

Because that can rapidly degenerate into meaning "My political ideology is better than yours!".

Let's say that like most other failed Roman dictators, César liked boi-pussy, especially his own, a little too much to the point it became the subject of songs among even his own troops and earned him many titles, chiefs among them the one I already used but also the famous "Husband of all wives, wife of all husbands".
As for him trying to declare himself King, the episode of the Lupercales is the most telling exemple of those velleities of him. Only the boos and jeers of the crowd forced him to refuse the crown he had Antoine present him.

In ancient Rome, that was the norm. Caesar was only controversial because it was suspected that he took the 'passive' role.
