After the Great Purge that happened yesterday, I'm going to refrain from posting on NSG. Truth be told, I'm kind of disgusted at myself for some of the things I've posted before on here, this place feels like a swamp that brings out the worst in everyone. I won't be leaving the site, but I won't be posting on this side of the forum anymore. There's no fun discussions anymore, and most of the people I enjoy talking to either don't post anymore, have left the forum, or are on Gameside.

What in the ever-loving fuck is worse than creating an industrialized, systematic genocide that mercilessly slaughters some 17 million people while also starting and fighting a six-year long world war that kills 70 million people?

Even medieval Christianity was mixed on how it treated the Jews, in fact there were times that the Church actively protected them.

The big issue is contrary to popular belief of many on both the far left and far right, Jews are not hive mind, but people with agency who make different decisions, and those decisions are impacted by (but not entirely controlled by) the environment.

I always thought it was interesting how the far left and far right both have their share of antisemites, but for different reasons.

Ironically many Jews were German Nationalists under the German Empire which has accepted them better than nearly all other European nations.

Ironically Germany didn't even have that many Jews too. Most of the Jews killed by the Nazis were from Eastern Europe.

It's funny because it's mostly a joke, and Jews have committed far worse atrocities, yet we are meant to bend over and eat their shit when we criticise them, even think of denying the holocaust, or anything similar.

I would try to reassure you by saying that it might not be a permanent thing, but I'd probably be trying to convince myself more than anything. Some of them in the past have said they were leaving, only to return a while later. We will have to see whether they do this time...

Two, maybe three accounts don't count as "en masse" in my book. I'm sad to see so many prominent posters leaving, although I don't personally believe that their reasoning for doing so is valid in most cases.

No the issue is political bias. Some people with blue flags get away with murder while others get deleted for throwing a banana skin on the pavement.

I feel obligated to point out here that I'm a legitimate contender for the most right wing poster on the forums, and I have gotten away with a slap on the wrist for things others would be DOS for- including a fair number of liberals.

Honestly, my experience as probably the most conservative member of the moderation team has been that right-wingers just have more difficulty following the site rules. The fact that people like you and Saiwania, to give two examples, are still around ought to serve as a counterpoint to the idea that it's impossible for people with strong right-wing beliefs to hang around on the forums for any length of time without being banned.

Modern anti-Semitism is very rarely motivated by dubious Christian theology. You're the only person bringing Jesus' death into this.

This is very true, and it's interesting to contrast the situation in Russia with that in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, where Emperor Franz Josef was well known for his philosemitism and where Jews generally reciprocated his support. Many Austrian Jews were staunch defenders of the Hapsburg dynasty, and Jews were disproportionately represented in the officer corps of the Austro-Hungarian armed forces. Clearly there was no inherent tendency amongst Jews to support the overthrow of Christian monarchs.

Honestly, my experience as probably the most conservative member of the moderation team has been that right-wingers just have more difficulty following the site rules. The fact that people like you and Saiwania, to give two examples, are still around ought to serve as a counterpoint to the idea that it's impossible for people with strong right-wing beliefs to hang around on the forums for any length of time without being banned.

I find that the majority of the time, generally speaking- the mods around here treat me better than the other users. The rules are still a tad more liberal than I'd like them to be, but this is just how it is. The website owner and founder is Australian after all, which is a nation that is somewhat more hostile to far right politics, as is the case with Germany because of the Nazi era it had.

If you're fringe right as opposed to fringe left, you do have to code your language more because fringe right politics has inherently more risk of running afoul of one or more rules on here. There is a way you can operate unhindered but I've still gotten my fair share of trouble. Its hard if you don't have your guard up. If in doubt, its best to not post.
