That's fair, need to read Crime and Punishment myself. And yeah, Shatov would definitely be the most accurate, especially considering how both of us combine nationalism with religious devotion and have a dislike for Western ideas. Though Kirillov comes into a close second.

Your overall philosophy is probably more radical than your political ideology. If you're European, based on what we've discussed, I'd probably put you at a 4 or 5. If you're American, then you're probably a 6 or 7. Overton Window and all that.

My political ideology has been changing somewhat the past few months. I've been becoming more conservative, seeing more use in organic institutions and traditional culture, while developing a stronger sense of religiousness, primarily through the Pure Land & Shingon schools. I don't really think I could be a devout member of my religion without nationalism. Nationalism makes my religious beliefs something real and tangible, a living belief instead of an abstract reality.

Still a Kokugakusha fangirl who writes moody poetry about the world and emotions.
