Is it racist to call a black man a "negro who don't read"?

Well, on the news, this happened. And, the host on the show, instead of denouncing the commentator that said this, giggled and laughed.
Basically, the panel disagreed with what a black man said about their party, and said "this is what happens when negros don't read" and the entire panel, including the host, laughed, and the point was never denounced as racist nor as untrue.

So Nationstates, what say you? Is it ok that this panel said the comments of this black man were wrong, and what this man said was what happened when "Negros can't read"? Is it racist?
My answer is..
Yes, any News station that berates someone on racial lines like this, it is entirely racist. whether referring to someone as a "cracker" or a "Negro", it is racist and should be condemned.



Oh, and in case your thinking this is some obscure news station overseas, it is a famous news organization here in America.

I don't consider this all that big of a deal or worth my attention, but I would consider it beyond the pale. There are almost no truly illiterate people in the US. Supposedly, some Black people can get paid big money to say bad things about the Black community or Black celebrities to Conservative audiences because Blacks typically vote Democrat/liberal. I think that is what's going on.
