Some of those salads are a real health hazard. And I'm not joking. People think, "Oh, I'll be healthy and have a salad," but they don't realize how many calories are in those elaborate salads that have everything but the kitchen sink.
Restaurants can also be very bad for not washing the salad properly. I have noticed considerable dirt in salads on more than one occasion...

Pepperoni pizza is the most boring pizza.
Barring cheese pizza, of course, which really should be renamed "plain". When I was 7 my family went on a week-long trip to Pennsylvania from Wisconsin, and one day at a food court I ordered cheese pizza, expecting large bricks of various cheeses as toppings. I was disappointed to find that the slice contained just crust, sauce, and the typical amount of cheese, with no big bricks or other toppings whatsoever. It was still a decent slice of pizza, but it should have been called "plain pizza", darn it!

If you were a non-American, I could definitely see why you would have been confused by what you received, as in my experiences abroad "cheese pizzas" are not so common outside the US, often instead restaurants have a "pizza margherita" which often involves a cheese pizza being supplemented by large chunks non-melted mozzarella on top and sometimes chunks of tomatoes. Which is also what you often get in an American restaurant from a pizza margherita. But in America, cheese pizza is widely understood to be what you got, and it's hard to find abroad. Fortunately for me as a cheese pizza lover and American abroad, I have found a local delivery place that offers a New York style cheese pizza.
So is it different in Wisconsin? I've never been but I know your state are kind of known for being cheese snobs (well, cheese snobs in the context of America, I'm sure the French would probably turn their noses in disgust just as much at Wisconsin as the rest of America). A few years ago down in my hometown in Florida, we got a Culver's. I like it, and that has been my only experience with Wisconsin cuisine. Cheese curds actually do go well with a cheeseburger.
