More seriously, any literal reading of the Bible - for those inclined to place stock on literal readings - would show that the entertaining interpretation in the OP is false.

It's directly stated in Scripture that we have no way of knowing the hour or the day of the Second Coming. The Parable of the Virgins in Matthew 25 is quite explicit on this point:

Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. (Matthew 25:13)

That's a direct and unambiguous quote from Jesus Christ; which I would think would rather take precedence over any modern, and likely anachronistic, interpretation of the deeply allegorical passages of Revelation. And does rather suggest that if He is planning on returning imminently, He wouldn't choose to broadcast the fact to all and sundry via the timing of White House alerts.
