Theocracy has almost always ended in disaster and relies on ignorance and self-righteousness disguised as piety and humility. There have been some Buddhist theocracies, such as Tibet, and Buddhist countries with blasphemy laws, such as Sri Lanka. But they forgot the true meaning of Buddhism in favor of pride and self-aggrandizement. I will never accept any type of theocracy, especially from my own religion.

What do you think about theocracies?

But I believe in the future, when the earth's resources are low and we are in the need of a great cultural change, religion will play a major role in that.

Nah. When the Earth’s resources get low, either we colonize space, learn how to recycle, cut back production, or invent synthetic foodstuffs, or we’re screwed. Any religion that currently exists on Earth will be utterly useless in helping a demoralized, terrified people against the vast, empty, darkness of space.

Regardless of whether religion is factually correct, or morally justified, or a contagious memetic hazard, it can provide a darwinian advantage. Or just as easily in other circumstances, a disadvantage as factually incorrect beliefs are used in decision-making.

That said, I haven’t seen any Vatican space program to spread god’s word to any hypothetical aliens out there, so until such a thing gets funded and actually builds rockets, claims that “religion helps with space travel” aren’t provable.

Saudi Arabia is de-facto not a theocracy though do it's haram actions such as child murder in in Yemen and it's murder of people under the protection of other Muslim ruled states(Turkey) who are not combatants against them.
